Repairs to York Arcade starting in mid July.
The contract was awarded last week and a pre-start meeting is anticipated to be arranged for sometime next week with a proposed start date of mid July.
The works scheduled to take place includes replacing approximately 23 broken, damaged or discoloured panels in the canopy and sealing the uPVC glazing bars to the glass on the top surface of the canopy. Damaged panels will be removed and replaced from underneath with the use of a scaffold expected to span the full width and approximately 1/3rd of the length of the arcade. The scaffold will be dismantled and re-erected as the work moves along the arcade.
Safe public access will be maintained through the arcade with access available to the shops for the duration of the works.
On completion of the works, the external surface of the canopy glazing will be cleaned.
