What is the Festival of Trees?

The Festival of Trees is a heart-warming community event that takes place in towns and cities around the world — and this year, Falkirk will host its very first one. Held in the Howgate Shopping Centre, the festival will feature around 80 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each designed by local businesses, charities, community groups, dancers, drama clubs, and individuals who want to add festive sparkle to the town centre.

Visitors can also enjoy:

  • An indoor Christmas market with festive crafts and gifts
  • Live performances from local choirs and community groups
  • Artwork displays by pupils from local Primary Schools
  • Free to Attend

The Festival of Trees is free for everyone to enjoy. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to make a donation, with proceeds supporting next year’s festival and the local food bank — helping to keep this a true community event while supporting a worthwhile local cause.

Why Take Part?

Showcase your organisation with a decorated tree and an information board telling visitors who you are, what you do, and how they can support you.

Be part of a high-profile community event that attracts visitors into Falkirk town centre and puts your business, charity, or group in front of a wide audience.

Low commitment — once your tree is decorated and in place, there’s no need to attend or “man” it during the festival.

Costs to Display a Tree

£10 if you bring your own tree

£30 if you’d like us to provide a tree (includes £20 hire fee)

Volunteers Needed

The Festival of Trees is a true community event, and we couldn’t run it without the help of volunteers. We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to support us with:

  • Helping to set up and decorate
  • Welcoming and guiding visitors
  • Stewarding the event and keeping things running smoothly

Whether you can spare a couple of hours or a full day, your time and energy will help make the festival magical for everyone.

Please note: Volunteering is completely separate from entering a tree. You don’t need to volunteer in order to display a tree — but we’d love your support if you’d like to get involved!

Apply for a Market Stall

As part of the Festival of Trees, we’re hosting an indoor Christmas Market on:

  • Saturday 6th
  • Sunday 7th
  • Saturday 13th
  • Sunday 14th
    December 2025 (10am – 4pm each day).

Stalls cost £20 per day (cash only) and traders must provide their own 6ft table. Please note there is no power supply.

To trade at the market, you must hold a minimum of £2 million Public Liability Insurance. Food producers must also provide relevant food safety certificates (please note we cannot accept raw food products).

Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis by product type to ensure a good mix of stalls. Completing the form does not guarantee a space.
