Stenhousemuir Town centre - Shop Local


Stenhousemuir famous for cattle Trysts the biggest in Europe, with 150,000 head of cattle, sheep and horses changing hands at the three autumn trysts. The cattle were driven on the hoof for hundreds of miles down ancient drove roads from every corner of Scotland to the site now, occupied by the golf course and cricket ground. Here for over a hundred years until the early years of the 20th century buyers and sellers from all over Britain conducted their business and the local community provided goods and services which brought even more income to the area. This historical time is immortalised by 2 highland cows.

Take a look at the small, friendly, independent shops in the newly regenerated town centre, recently there has been a growth in new housing estates such as the Inches and Kinnaird Village, which has boosted footfall into the Town centre, as a result a new gym is due to open soon, this is a welcome addition to the town centre and will compliment local businesses who are well established and offer a friendly personal service to all shoppers to the town centre, there is a good mix of businesses, such as a butchers shop, florists, coffee shops, wellness centre, charity shops, newsagents, recycled furniture shop, freezer shop, hardware store, chemists, to name a few.  Within the town centre is the “lido”, which was gifted to the local area, and is a lovely spot to take time out to enjoy nature.
