Sportsters Falkirk win Social Responsibility category at SLTN awards

It was a great night for Sportsters Falkirk at the 2016 Scottish License Trade News Awards as they won the Social Responsibility award. The Castle Leisure Group (CLG) venue pipped The Garage in Aberdeen and fellow CLG venue, Fubar in Stirling.

The award, sponsored by Diageo, was given to Sportsters Falkirk based on their drive to promote responsible drinking, shown in their pricing and promotions, and through making customer safety and comfort a top priority.

Sportsters Falkirk manager, Daniel McCue said: “We’re delighted to have won this award. We take Social Responsibility very seriously in venue and to have that hard work and effort recognised at the SLTN awards is fantastic.

“We work very closely with our community here in Falkirk, so customer safety and comfort has and always will be a huge priority for us. This award signifies we’re doing the right things and we’ll be continuing to strive for the same going forward.”

“I think it’s also a testament to the Castle Leisure Group that we had two nominees for this award. It’s a shame there could only be one winner, but to have ourselves and Fubar in the final three is a great sign of the work we’re doing as a group.”

It wasn’t a clean sweep for Sportsters though who were narrowly defeated to retaining their title of Sports Bar of the Year. They do obtain a highly commended status from being in the final three, but Daniel admits they’ll be aiming to get back their title next year.

“We’re disappointed not to have won Sports Bar of the Year again, but we always knew it would be tough to win two years in a row” said Daniel. “Our congratulations go to the winners, but you can be assured we’ll be working hard every day now to claim it back in 2017.”
